Jesus Christ is Alive, ascended to the Heavens, and at the Fathers' right side! Before His ascension, Lord Jesus told the disciples from then and now: Make Disciples! Make disciples of all nations! And teach them My Word, teach them to know and keep it safe in their lives! Yes, this is our mission in this world, as Christians and children of God: to bring the Lord Jesus' Message throughout the world, until the edges of the earth!
As empowered missionaries of Lord Jesus, we understand that preaching the Word and the Discipleship of christians are the key to real change in our lives, and the lives of each man on earth. And that this is the mission and purpose on earth, until the second coming of Lord Jesus. But talking about Discipleship, we must understant what discipleship means and what role disciplechip plays in the universal salvation plan.
Discipleship, from our perspective as SLM Europe, means sharing our faith by means of Bible Courses through Correspondence, seeking to plant the seed of faith in the hearts of the students that we work with. Then, once faith is sown, to ensure its growth and fructification in a life lived in abundance, full of fruits of the Holy Spirit and in obedience to God. How can this be done, and where, when our students are scattered all over the earth? The answer is this: in the local churches, encouraging church planting anywhere in the world, and gathering disciples together to become the Body of Jesus Christ on earth!
Another way of making disciples is that of multiplying ourselves in the SLM Europe missionary ministry, developing new missionaries, new associate bible schools, tying and developing new partnership relations with local churches from Europe. This is the key of success and the way towards the fulfillment of the Great Commission. SLM Europe has developed its missionary ministry like this during the years, supporting the spiritual growth of local churches, multiplying the discipleship centers everywhere where our Lord has opened doors for ministry. The last years have been very blessed in this direction. Because of the difficult economical conditions, our volunteer instructors, like many other people, went in search of work to all countries from Europe, taking with them the SLM Europe vision. Thus, they took with them the Correspondence Bible Course, developing in the Romanian Diaspora new discipleship centers and planting new churches, especially in Italy and Spain. Some have reached the US, others India, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Turkey, Greece... The phenomenon of discipleship is fantastic and full of fruit, when you understand that discipleship is not doing something on a local level, but teaching people to live as Jesus Christ anywhere in the world.
Now, God has blessed us with open doors to all of Europe. I could say that we live times such as those from the New Testament, characterized by "Pax Romana" and the freedom of movement. We don't know how long these times will last, but we have the duty to cherish this freedom. This is the why we ask God to help us extend the missionary ministry not only to the areas where the Gospel was not proclaimed, but also to return to the countries from which Europe has received the Gospel, that is towards the Western and Northern Europe, which are strongly affected by the impact of Islam.
At this moment, we have an opportunity before us that we want to take advantage for the glory of God:
We have SLM Europe instructors, immigrants in many European countries, that want to develop new local mission centers; we also have Christians that have studied the SLM courses and want to spread them in the churches and cities where they live; we also have pastors that serve in evangelical churches spread all over Europe, who request support for the development of missionary ministries in their churches. Through all these voices, God talks to all like he did to Paul: "Come over to Europe and help us!" (Acts 16:9-10). And we cannot be careless in the face of such a call, just like the apostle Paul couldn't be careless when the Holy Spirit called him to go from Asia to Europe.
